By now, the news of the East Coast earthquake has hit pretty much everywhere. I was home alone, in my 12th floor apartment just sitting on the couch when it hit. Being a native Californian (and Texan), I've been in some earthquakes, the biggest being the 1994 one in the Valley in CA. That one was terrifying because I was very young, it was super powerful, and it hit in the early morning hours. We had lost power and hot water for days. I remember showering at our neighbor's house because while he also had no power, he did have hot water. Go figure.
Anyways, yesterday's quake was no joke and even though it's nothing in comparison to what's happened in Japan and CA, it's still really scary. I'm really happy and very thankful that as of now, nobody was really hurt, there was no major damage, and my friends and family are safe.

I Love Butler!
I think I'm the only person in the world who picked Butler to beat Pitt in my bracket. Was that game not ridiculous?
I was out watching the fight with MB in Eastern market at the Ugly Mug. Then we wandered down to Pour House. I haven't been feeling all that well reacently since Mike and Mike's birthday and then St. Patrick's Day. Oh St. Patrick's day. Let me just tell you, never go to Chinatown when NCAA tournament is there AND it's a national drinking holiday. It was a disaster. Then we met up with friends at a new beirgarten called Standard near U st. After that, we bounced around to Bar Pillar and Sullys and then cabbed home.
About this mixed signals thing I mentioned in the last post, I've talked it over with many people and him, and all I can say is....Oh, boys, you're so stupid. In the end, I just was honest, and he's been amazing. He even helped me pack yesterday and watched basketball with me and took me and MB out last night.
Speaking of last night, let me just describe the fucking weirdest metro ride ever. We get to Capitol South metro where this group of people are holding this girl up who is collapsing from alcohol, then the metro lady comes over and tries to save her. We go downstairs and this guy starts chatting with us, and it turns out he's their underage gay friend. He then missed his metro with the rest of his friends and metroed with us to Metro Center where he consistently asked MB to go get Jumbo Slice with him, although he's gay and was telling us about how this was his first time wearing makeup. Followed by this clown leaving, two more got on the metro and started talking with MB. She had a whole conversation with them lying, telling them she was from Canada. Then the two guys texted each other....while sitting next to each other. Ridiculous. I was so over it.
Today I went to Rosslyn and ate my first Dim Sum. Well maybe not, but they brought it around on carts and it was such a delicious brunch. And I really liked the company.
Tomorrow is moving day for me and Zig. I.am.nervous. And obviously excited. I love living alone, but I know that this will be fine and very fun. Sigh, ok, here we go.

Somewhat Insulted
I got a wedding invite from a second cousin tonight. I knew it was coming because my mom texted me asking if I was going. I had no idea what the hell she was talking about since I thought the wedding was in October, and I had no idea I'd even be invited.
Anyways, there was no save the date and now I'm being told the wedding is at the end of April. And tonight I got the invite, and I didn't even get a +1. Really?! I'm 25, I need a date. I can't be sitting there at a family wedding, with even my mom and her husband, just chilling by myself. I'm going to turn into a drunk disaster and I'm going to be not so happy. Let's also throw this out there...the wedding is in Arizona, not close to DC, not a cheap flight. I love my family, but I just think this is weird.
I don't know. Let's just pull a Scarlett O'Hara and say that I'm too tired to think about it today. I'll just think about it tomorrow.

Must.Stop.Shopping.
Oh boy, I've been on a shopping kick lately. In the last week and a day or so, I've bought 2 pairs of jeans, a work skirt, 2 tank tops, 2 pairs of shoes, a work bag, and new 600 thread count sheets. And I move in 2 weeks. Holy crap.
Last Saturday katmcd, Glen Coco, Mike and Mike in the morning, and my coworkers E, B, and K all came out for the DC Leprechaun Lap. Oh holy crap, it was awesomely fun. Everybody was blackout, I spent most of yesterday trying to figure out with katmcd and one of the Mikes what the hell happened to us. We still don't know, but I know we had such a great time.
Work is going well still, really busy as usual. And I've been going on a few dates/spending time with a good guy. He treats me really well and I'm pretty happy about that.
This weekend I'm looking forward to floor seats to the Wizards/Clippers game and this man:

This Will Probably Be A Long One
But first I have to pay my respects to a few people. First is my great-grandmother. She passed away last week. She had such a great life, and a long one, 95 years. Second is someone I didn't know very well, but our paths crossed a few times as he was a friend of my ex's. His name was Sean, I think he was around my age and he passed away this weekend from a heart attack, or so they think. So to both of those people, I hope they find peace, and know that lots of people cared for you both.
Now, moving on to good things, there's a few giveaways:
1. My friend Legs over at Steak and Legs is giving away some Disney memorabilia. Who doesn't love that?
2. Over at Quarter Life Prep, she's celebrating her blogaversary with some awesome prizes.
Moving on from that, work is just moving along very nicely. It's getting stressful, but I'm still having a great time.
This Saturday a nice group of friends are going to be on a bar crawl in DC for St. Patrick's Day. Please don't ask me why this is 2 weeks early, because I honestly have NO idea. I'm really looking forward to because I had such a great time on it last year.
Last weekend was one of my bff MB's birthday. She chose to go to Mighty Pint to start. Katmcd was nice enough to pick up some awesome glasses and a sash for MB and then bought us all some beads. We bounced around there for a while before moving on to Bottom Line. My Mike from Mike and Mike in the morning was nice enough to come too! He's really pleasantly surprised me, and I get to see him twice this week. He is exciting and treats me well. I hope he thinks the same of me (exciting, kind, fun). Anyways, MB had a great time and everyone was just in a good mood. It was a wonderful weekend.
Tonight was terrible on the metro, but MB and I went on a really nice trip to Pentagon City and I bought some good stuff, and then I went to the gym. It was a very up and down Monday.
OH FML. I just got an email from my ex.

Shiny Happy People
I realize that isn't the real video but the original video wouldn't let me fucking embed it. Of course.
Anyways, I really love love REM. Seriously, I had my first encounter with them when I was about 10 and I've had a secret soft-spot for them ever since.
I could not ask for better friends. After a 60 hour work week, I love that I can count on them to party like the best of them with me. Last night mb, katmcd, and I went to Bottom Line. Glen Coco came for a while too! After a while, I was just not having the greatest time and was thinking that I was just wasting time and money and since I have volleyball today I closed my tab around 12 with every intention of going home. No later than me putting down the pen I signed my check with do I look to my right and see Banana Bread Ray! BBR is a friend of mb and I's who we met actually while watching football last year (2009) at the pub. He is legitimately the nicest guy ever and his friends were hilarious. We ended up hanging out with them and taking yeager bombs (I had at least 2....ick) and having a great time until the bar started to close up. The best part.....my tab was $10. I FUCKING LOVE THE BOTTOM LINE.
And not to toot my own horn, but I curled my hair last night and this morning it looks fucking amazing. What the hell? Ok, I'll take it.
And now, off to volleyball!

So Now I Get Dates on the Metro?
Last night was quite possibly the best Thursday that I've had in months. MB and I had plans to go to the DC Auto Show and see Randy Orton.
GOOD LORD THAT MAN IS HOT. He is as hot in person as he is on tv. I realize that someone like him would never ever want anybody like me, and I would really not ever want to be with someone like him. But goodness, I'm going to keep on looking.
After walking around for a bit, checking out cars and people-watching, we headed to Bar Louie to get these amazing S'more martinis and some dinner. The service was awkwardly slow and we decided to go to half-price pitcher night at La Tasca. Of course, sangria=happy sarg. After 2 pitchers and a fabulous time with mb, we walked to the metro. The wait for the red line was like 2 seconds, but at Metro Center, we had almost 20 minutes, but a blue line was coming. We were drunk and decided to get on and take it to Rosslyn to get a change of scenery (why? who fucking knows.) As we walked on the train, we notice the floors are really dark and there's something going on with the chairs. It looked like we had walked on to the fucking Champagne Room of the metro. Like, carpet/crushed velvet seats, and dark floors. We were mesmerized the entire ride to Rosslyn.
Once there, we drunkenly stumbled off the metro and start walking just like 10 feet to a spot with like, less people. On our way there, I almost walk into this guy, and he just kind of stops and stares, to which I respond (in true How I Met Your Mother fashion) Hi, have you met mb? We ended up chatting it up with this guy the entire wait for the orange line, and then on the metro until Courthouse when he got off. It was kind of random, like why was he taking the metro 1 stop, and why did we decide randomly to take the blue line instead of just waiting it out. Anyways, he works in Rosslyn, ironically for one of my competitors. On his way out, totally out of the blue he says, ok, Starbucks 1:30 on Monday? I blank stared for a while, and he was like, yes 1:30 Monday. Oh ok. So quite possibly on Monday I'll be meeting this guy. It was one of those very weird exchanges that I re-live and think, did that just happen?
If nothing else, even if this guy doesn't show up on Monday or we just have coffee and do nothing else, the chat last night was what I needed. It was the slap in the face that I needed to wake up and pull out of the random man coma I was in. I laughed a lot about it today.

F'ing Bambi Legs
Want to know what I look like while I'm ice skating? Here it is:
You think I'm kidding? Look at this picture of Zig and I from last week.
He's like my Thumper. Get your mind out of the gutter. K thanks. This was about 5 minutes after I took a bambi spill and superman-d on the ice. And he had to be a f'ing showoff and skate backwards. But then he fell and I laughed.
Then today on my walk to work, my bambi legs were back in action as I slipped and slided on my 2.5 block walk to the metro.
When is it going to be window-down weather?

Family Game Night
This was my night last night. We started off with a few drinks at Rock Bottom and we had a nice size group going. Zig, Glen Coco, MB, A and her bf D, my coworker Vtech and her roommate L. We mosey-d upstairs and had a great time ice skating although all of us went ice-to-face. I basically slammed my knee cap in the ice. It's killing me today. Oh well. Then we went back to Rock Bottom. I probably should have had some dinner though. This morning I am starving and couldn't even bring myself to fully dry my hair.
Is is the weekend yet?

Elementary School
You know what is kind of cool? I just got invited to an Elementary School reunion with about 25 of my old classmates. Some of them still hang out together which I just think is incredible. I moved to Texas when I was 11, which was going into 7th grade, and I lost touch with almost everyone. Through the wonders of facebook, I slowly started becoming friends with them and I get to stalk their lives. It's crazy. We knew each other almost 20 years ago. I'm almost very sad to be missing this get-together.
Tomorrow is my project's holiday party. It's a nice dinner and drinks, hopefully followed by an awesome after party.
1. I hope it's fun
2. MB is my date, I know she'll be a good time
3. I hope I'm not at work until 6

Oh, Hi Fall Weather
Yesterday in DC, it was 80 degrees. Yes 80. I had a t-shirt and work skirt on and I was totally comfortable. This morning, as I'm running late and trying to get out the door, wet hair and all, I get in my car, crack my windows and drive outside and proceed to get blown in the face by a gust of ridiculously chilly wind. WHERE DID YOU COME FROM???? I know, I know, it's October, but I was so thrown off. Thank goodness I had a cardi in the car. OMFG, I can finally wear my boots....sweet.
Today, I am majorly stressed out. Basically my entire life for the next year lies in the hands of this man who is choosing his staff for another project within my company. If I'm picked, I'll be traveling around the country, 6 weeks at a time, with weekends either in the location of my work, or back here in DC. I'd give up my apartment, and hopefully be happier with work. Right now I'm on a project that is miserable. Some days I come in and don't speak to anyone. Like I said...miserable. This other project sounds great and would put off my move to Chicago. I also need to tell my apartment complex by the end of the month if I'm going to resign or not. And lets say I don't get this position, then the Chicago move is on, hopefully for next September, and I'd need to see if my apartment would even let me sign for 9 months. So really, everything lies in this man's hands. I should hear something this week???
At least I have things to keep me busy. Tomorrow, I'll be meeting up with my volleyball teammates who I've played with the last 4 years, some longer than that, at Founding Farmers for happy hour. I've heard that this place is great, but I've never been. Friday I'll be attending a fabulous dinner party with some really great people. Sunday I'll finally be back with MB at the pub for Football Sunday! Yes, that is in caps. It's been forever (read: 4 weeks) since we've watched the games together. Next week is filled with sorority family dinners, and preparing to run the Army 10-Miler next Sunday. Holy crap I'm freaking out about that. More on it later though.
Also, have you ever eaten these:
I tried them and love them! So weird and tangy yet delicious.
kthanksbye.

Last night was sheer amazingness and I have no idea how I got home. I'm assuming J Coupon and A drove me? We went from Bottom Line taking a blow job shot and me kissing the bartender on the cheek to Mighty Pint and getting awesome light up crown, rings, and beer topper, to RiRa, where I went deaf, had tequila, and danced to an awesome band. Holy crap I love my life.

Birthday Par-tay!
Tonight is my birthday party, because obviously I wasn't going to get obliterated on a Monday night. I mean, not like I've never done that before. Never......hahaha.
Anyways, yesterday I had an interview for a new role within my company and I think it went well and I'm pretty excited to hear next week whether or not I got it. The guy seemed really decent and pretty cool. Then I met with my career counselor, a higher up person who helps you "navigate" your way during your time at the company. We've talked a ton over the last few months, but this was the first time I met her. She seemed nice. After battling HORRIBLE Mclean traffic, I met up with katmcd and her friend Mimi at Chef Geoff's for some happy hour beers and food. Very interesting. We were supposed to go to the Curbside Cookoff, but they were in line and all of the vendors had run out of food, so they wandered to Chef Geoff's. It was my first time there and it was PACKED. At Chef Geoff's, I got chips with like, powdered cheddar, and a side of ranch. Delicious, but strange. They had eaten a mushroom pizza and said it was good.
Afterwards, we went to Courthouse and stopped by Ireland's Four Courts. Mimi had gone home and katmcd and I were headed to a suprise birthday party in Courthouse and weren't sure if the birthday girl had arrived so we were killing some time and listening to some live Irish music. It too was packed and had a lot of guys which we both appreciated. When we got the "all clear" from Legs, we trekked to her apartment that she shares with her boyfriend for her very good friend (also both of these girls are ADPis) Bryn's suprise party. I hadn't seen Bryn in a few years, (and we saw Jess in Orlando last weekend when they were running the Epcot Half Marathon) but it was pretty nice and we got to chat a lot with some younger ADPis there and overall just had a nice Friday night. They all headed into Georgetown for an ADPi Barbie Crush Party and katmcd and I went home. Then I dropped my damn phone and cracked the screen. UGHHHHHH.
Today I have to go to work today from until around 5ish and then I'll come home, get ready and head out to DC. Metro is being a total bitch this weekend though. RUDE. But we'll just walk.
Also, can I just please say, having a 30 degree variation throughout the day is not ok. The fact that it's low 50s and then is going to be 80 today makes it next to impossible to dress for going outside. Please decide...summer or fall. Thank you!

I Blame J Coupon
So, J Coupon is a very good friend of mine. We've known each other about 3 years and just get along really well. He can be honest with me and vice versa. He's engaged to A, now one of my good friends, and MB's college friend. Anyways, after our fantasy draft at Baileys last night, he wanted to stay and have a few more beers. Everyone(our friends) had left except for us so I sat with him and the other people there until 2am. 2am! on a TUESDAY! Needless to say I'm exhausted today. And I have a hangover. I'm working a suprise shift and then going to the pub for the pre-football party that we always go to. I'll be late, and I'm sad about that, but like, extra work=extra money. And since I'm Hilton Head bound next Saturday, I want to have a little reserve.
In other news, I haven't gotten 1 work email today. What a joke. Katmcd and I have been talking about our upcoming vacations and HH just looks gorgeous. I've never been anywhere like it and I so enjoy that it'll be on the beach and relaxing and there's a full kitchen and it's just a beautiful looking hotel/villa. I also was stalking Disney World for hotel and tickets and park hours, etc. I'm officially vacation obsessed.
Tomorrow is kickball day and it's a beach theme. I went to the Dollar Tree and bought katmcd and I some awesome ocean pets, but couldn't find much else. Either way, GO MIGHTY DRUNKS!
In other news, I haven't gotten 1 work email today. What a joke. Katmcd and I have been talking about our upcoming vacations and HH just looks gorgeous. Mean Girls, Best Friends Forever
Mike Posner for the win this morning. I've liked him from the beginning and katmcd and I meeting him in July was awesome. This is now katmcd's ringtone for when she calls me.
Normally I try not to post so many videos, but this Disney/Mean Girls Mash-Up is too good to pass up.
And finally, a video for the best wolfpack ever.
Is anyone else confused by what day it is? Tonight I've got my second fantasy draft, but it should be interesting since it's at Bailey's for $2 draft night. I haven't seen a few of these guys in 7 months, since the absurd creating of a facebook fight (which, we never did). Kind of sad since MB won't be there bc she'll be flying back from Miami and K2 didn't join the league. Anyways, I'm going into it with a positive attitude and since I know some other people who are fun will be there, I'm sure I'll have a great time and will have worried for nothing. And...only 2 days til NFL kickoff!!!!!!

Twilight Zone Part 2
Saturday morning, I woke up and literally drug my ass to the gym for a quick workout before a long day of really random and super fun events. I drove over to katmcd's for a pool date. It was so weird though because as soon as we sat down, it was a thousand degrees, and every time we went into the pool, it was cloud cover. But we got a nice little tan, quickly changed clothes and picked up katmcd's friend to go to the H St. Biergarten Haus. I think the short version is her friend just got married and during the after party they went to a similar place in Michigan and wanted to drink out of a boot, and this was a place you could do it. The drive over was weird bc we hit everyone coming back from the Glen Beck rally and got diverted on Constitution. Also, H St is an "up and coming neighborhood." (read: ghetto) I happen to get really uncomfortable in places like this but whatever. We found it, parked and entered into a tiny little row house and were greeted by a foreign girl (points for the accent at a German Biergarten). We started following her and the patio just never ended. It was a huge backyard of shared picnic tables, a bar, and a lot of TVs. The three of us sat down with this older couple and ordered 3 Radlers and some pretzel rolls. Radlers are a mix of beer and 7up, basically a Shandy if you know what those are. The older couple were nice enough but started awkwardly PDA-ing. After the large beer, I was tired, hungry for real food since they didn't start serving there until 5, and wanted a shower, so we left. But as we were leaving, this guy pulls my arm so I turn around and says, "Hey, have you met Greg?" I laugh hysterically and tell katmcd, "omg, that guy just pulled a Hi have you met Ted game on me!" We all laughed and then kept walking. Katmcd and I went back to her place, and traded cars and I drove us back to my place.
While at my place, we just cleaned up, ate California Tortilla, and were sitting around before it was time to leave and go to the most random house party ever, and I get a text message. The text is from this guy who I used to be good friends with, but there was a falling out of sorts and we haven't talked in 6 months. The text read like we had just hung out like last weekend and he was hosting people over for the UFC fight. I sat there stunned for a solid 10 minutes not knowing what was going on. So after I digest it, I just simply respond back, "I have other plans. I'll let you know if they change. Thanks for the offer." Simple, polite, and not "Oh hey, wtf are you texting me for, we don't talk anymore." I found out the next day that a bunch of our friends went over there, a lot of whom were in the same boat as me and hadn't talked to him and his roommate in a long time. and had a great time, but everyone just acted like the last 6 months hadn't happened. I guess I can appreciate that though, and while I had fun where I went, I was interested in being there too.
After all of that, katmcd and I hopped in the car and we started the trek to Bryan's Road, MD. We had to google this place to double check it existed. A friend of katmcd's that she met through work had a party to watch UFC, and she was invited, and brought me. Neither of us had a clue what to expect but it was ok. We were met outside by her friend and were walked inside to meet the few people who were there. A husband and wife who owned the home, and another couple. Oh.My.God. wtf is this? We go into the kitchen for a drink, and are suddenly surrounded by a child running around. She had Disney Princess chairs everywhere though, so that was fun. Some of the party highlights included flip cup, having nicknames within 10 minutes of us being there (Little Miss Educated, Miss Backboard, etc), wrestling outside, shoes in the pool, a man crying, a male stripper in a leopard print(he said it was camo) cast, one of the guys calling katmcd his sister and me his cousin (oh west virginia) and beer pong. And quite possible the best thing form the night was katmcd and I tried to leave at one point, got in my car, turned it on, turned on my lights, put it in gear and were literally stopped before I could drive by a couple (we loved the girl) and the house owner guy. Oh no, we couldn't leave. They weren't ready to see us go. So we went back inside. Then katcmd and the house owner exchanged numbers and I guess he gave it out to some of the party and then got my number and they love us. I have no idea why. We both were mean to their faces, but they loved it. And they kind of played mean to us too. Whatever, it worked. I had stopped drinking about 3 hours before we left so I was tired and ready to go around 2 and we actually did leave.
Sunday katmcd, R, A, and I went to Six Flags in MD and had an amazing time. A lot of sun, lines were non-existent, we did the water park too. Long weekend, amazing stories, and new friends.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that in the car on the way to the Biergarten, katmcd looked over and said, oh there's Sarah from America's Next Top Model. Sure enough, there she was, just walking on the street near Chinatown. Weird right?

Keg Bus FTW!
The Keg Bus was a HUGE success. I don't know why, but everyone was in great spririts, and with the one exception of one of J Coupon's douchey friends calling me a cunt (which, btw, I don't like that word, I don't use it, I think it's really degrading). getting upset and then having Zig try and beat the shit out of him, I had the best time. Obviously Justin's friend's were left at that bar and we went elsewhere.
This is the list of bars we made it to and the list of drinks:
Hamilton's-Shot of Tequila, Dollar PBRs, complete with can pyramids
Blackfinn-1 beer, Pinapple Upside Down Cake shot, a lot of Champagne straight from the bottle
Stoney's-uhm....a beer?
Crystal City Sports Pub-Scooby Snack shot
And I finished my entire bottle of boones! And why did we get dropped off in the middle of nowhere? And who did I get taquitos with? And why did I drunk dial Peter? And how did I not vomit? And how did I play softball this morning?

Fantasy Football
This year, since MB, K2 and I got ousted from our other league (due to the guys we used to hang out with being complete d-bags, and 30-year old children), so we decided to just join one of the NFL.com run leagues together. Within approximately 10 minutes, our league was filled up with dudes. Go figure. Our 3 teams names are Smitten with Witten(K2), MB's Shufflin Crew(MB), and I Killed a Shark(me). So kill me, I'm not all that creative when it comes to naming myself. This is my 3rd year doing fantasy and it's just so random and fun.
And finally...some mud run pics.

So much fun and so gross.

I Wish
1. That I magically was given $3000.
2. That I had a personal shopper.
3. That my car was paid off.
4. That Run Amuck photos would be posted (ahem, it's been over the 72 hours originally noted)
5. That I was back in Spain.
