So I leave for Arizona on Friday to attend my 2nd cousin's wedding. But first, on Thursday night, katmcd, mb, and I are getting together for a royal wedding sleepover. I bought a lot of OJ for Mimosas, mb is brining cucumber sandwiches and scones, or someting like that. I'm really looking forward it.
Also, has anyone watched the HBO miniseries with Kate Winslet, called Mildred Pearce? I AM OBSESSED. Kate Winslet is awesome in it, but boo to Even Rachel Wood. She is terrible. And on another note, there is a lot of sex in it, and somewhat graphic. And the clothes and hats are amazing. I watched the first 4 parts in 1 sitting. I'm finishing up on part 5 this morning as I do some work.
Speaking of work, the shortest day I've worked in about 3 weeks has been 12 hours. My bosses are being very generous today and letting us all work from home. I like that they support my team and recognize how hard we're working. Anyways, back to it.

Yesterday Was A Bad Day
Not really bad, I just felt small, like my life wasn't moving forward, even though I know it's far from the truth. I'm having great adventures, working really hard but enjoying it, and overall things are going well. Blah.
Today was better. I came home and killed myself doing spin and then zumba. I've got an early happy hour, but I'm really excited because tomorrow night I'm going to Mr Days for Happy Hour. It's some charity thing thrown for my friend at work's friend. Did you follow that one? Anyways, there's a date auction and my work friend K tried to get me to be in it. Uhm, I'm all for meeting people, but selling myself, not happening. EVER. 1. I have stage fright like whoa. 2. I am confident, but I don't honestly think I'm pretty or gorgeous or deserving of a paid date. I can't even get a normal date. Don't get my wrong, I'm not horrible (check the Buenos Dias link for proof), but jeez, that'd be too much for me. Anyways, if you're around, come support a good cause, and see me get drunk. Something like that.
Also, somewhat unrelated to everything else, Monday night I took Body Pump at Golds. Basically it's a class where you lift weights non-stop for an hour at a heart-pumping pace...hahah something like that. BITCH KILLED ME. My triceps hate her. And it's like, 2 days later.
Well ya'll, I hope you had a nice week and are looking forward to a great weekend.

I Love Conference Calls
Today my schedule was:
8am con call
1:30 con call
8pm con call (I'm waiting for that one now)
Tomorrow my schedule is:
6:30am con call (being picked up to go to the office at 6:10am...UUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH)
8am con call
9am meeting
8pm con call
I was so incredibly busy and productive that it was fabulous. I forgot how much I like being a go-to person at work and being able to joke around but be amazing at work. Not to toot my own horn obviously.
I'm ready for happy hour on Thursday and I'm ready to meet more people (cough:men:cough). I'm still happy despite what happened yesterday and I'm feeling refreshed, which after 7, almost 8 years in 1 location, is really hard to do. DC has now surpassed Texas as the second longest time I've lived in 1 area. Weird.
Also, I'm so ready for warm weather. Was yesterday not the most ridiculous teaser? I dream of the days when I'll be tubing down the river, chilling at the pool, playing softball with friends, and patio drinking.

Life Fail
Well maybe not a life fail, but a life downer. Super Bowl weekend was just amazing. Buffalo Billiards for the UFC fight, Front Page for tequila and men, and a family football Sunday. Seriously fun. I have a new chatty, meet people life and it's going..........well, I think.
Today I didn't get my coffee date, but that's ok. I wrote earlier that I would be fine if he didn't show. Granted, I wasn't alone and I didn't stay past actually just getting my own coffee. That's what 2pm meetings will do to you.
This week, my coworker B is going under for ACL repair. While I feel bad for him, he's leaving at the worst time ever. But I can't focus on that because I have 8am and 8pm calls, and a PACKED work schedule. I keep telling myself, get to Thursday, get to Thursday. YAY LA TASCA and sangria with katmcd and mb. I'm kind of excited because this is the time I will prove to my bosses and myself that I can do this job and do it well. Wish me luck!

That Time I Got Punched in a Semi-Formal Dress
Last night was my firm's Winter Social and let me just say...SUCCESS. I hosted a wonderful pregame. Lots of food and really fun people from work and of course my date for the evening, katmcd. Everyone was dressed up and looking gorgeous. At around 8:15 we hopped in 3 cabs and headed for the National Building Museum. The building was just as gorgeous as I remember. We checked our coats and started heading for the food and for the bar.
The place is so big, and there were SO many people there, that honestly we all got separated, but thanks to the invention of cell phones, we all met up at Rocket Bar with Zig. I dont' know how, but my entire project team showed up there, minus my friend E of course. I have NO clue where she wandered off to after the Building Museum. Anyways, I started to lose my sense of......self control(?) again and started bouncing around. Zig and katmcd eventually both left and I stayed. I was hanging out with people that I have seen in like 2 months, and then of course my project team who are AMAZING.
I am not sure why, but I think I got punched or like, knocked in the jaw by my coworker. No clue. Then when I woke up this morning there was basically a warped piece of pizza sitting on my stove top. Wtf? I guess I came home and tried to cook it but didn't pay attention and it was burnt to a crisp. Kind of sad right?
Tonight...Rira. Watch out!

Death and Taxes
Quite a bit is happening right now. Because I now have a move date, I'm going through my apartment and analyzing if I actually need things. It's applying to all areas of my life now though. Trying to get my debt all settled, cleaning out all of my old clothes, and getting my taxes done. Stupid stupid taxes. But I feel good and accomplished, which I needed.
Also, how great is the movie Stranger than Fiction? Really good.
Anyways, totally unrelated, I've been thinking a lot about the mess I've become in my personal life over the last few weeks and I've come to a conclusion. I know how much other bloggers I read love graphs so I'm obliging:
As I become happier in my job, I become more of a hot mess at an exponential rate. Therefore, high job satisfaction=high level of hot mess. It's amazing how much job satisfaction affects me.
This Friday is my company's Winter Social. It's at the National Building Museum which is a gorgeous building that I once went to and had a horrible NYE at. I'm looking forward to erasing that memory. I'm having a quick little get-together before the party and then will most likely be at RiRa to see a friend's band. And I'm hoping to have a fabulous dress to wear. Yay awesome weekend coming up. But first, must get through this week.

So This is What Working Feels Like
Seriously, the last 2 days have been INTENSE. I already had to turn in a first draft of a document EOD (end of day) today. I just have no idea like what is going on. I mean, I feel great. I am contributing, and learning so much, and am working great on my own.
Also, I know I'll probably get seriously hated on, but Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday and I'm already hating on it this year. I'm running in a 5K turkey trot and I just heard the weatherman say that it's going to be freezing. SWEET. Not.
I'm tired, can you tell?

Thanksgiving Is This Week?
Oh holy shit man. Time just flew out the window today. It's my first day on my new project and I am LOVING IT. These are the important things to know about my project:
1. My friend Erin is on this project, but not on my team. I met Erin actually my second day at Accenture. She was in my start group and is younger than I am, but overall is just fun and loud and really supportive at work. She turns out to actually be my like welcoming person on this project. Having her on my project means that I'll have friends during all of the meetings and happy hours. Yay!
2. Happy Hours and Parties: Erin, her coworker and another one of my start group guys Liju basically spent lunch talking about how awesome and fun the happy hours are. Duh, I love that.
3. I had a feeling that my team, all 4 of us, would be men + me. So yeah, 3 guys and me. Ok, no big deal right? We're having a team dinner with another team that some of the guys I work with also do some work on. It's going to be at the amazing Fogo de Chao (which ps, I've never been to, but it sounds fabulous). My coworker first says to me, "Do you eat meat?" Uh, yeah I do. And then he said, "How do you feel about having dinner with a lot of guys?" Uh, what? The other team happens to also be all men. So dinner next week is 9 men and me, sarg. It will be the most ridiculous work event ever.
But really, my team seems really cool and I know it's going to be hard work but I am literally so excited. And because my blog hasn't really seen any holiday festive-ness, I leave you now with 10 Reasons I'm Thankful To Be Single This Thanksgiving, courtesy of The Frisky:
1. The only family drama I have to deal with is my own. And that’s enough, thank you very much.
2. I can decide to change my plans last minute and hop a plane to Spain, no questions asked. God, I wish I had thought of that sooner. Maybe I’ll check ticket prices.
3. Two words. Holiday hookups. ‘Tis the season when all singles are looking to deck the halls.
4. There will be no fights over whose folks we spend Thanksgiving with.
5. I don’t have to cook for or clean up after anyone else. Boys are messy. And I’m an awful cook.
6. I can watch “A Christmas Story” or “Love Actually,” my two favorite holiday movies, uninterrupted while binging on pecan pie leftovers and wearing sweat pants.
7. Party-hopping works when you’re a party of one. I can show up at multiple Thanksgiving dinners with a bottle of wine and a pumpkin pie and be a hit.
8. I’m grateful for all the wrong-for-me-guys I’m not going to be spending the holiday with.
9. I can wake up at 5 a.m. for Black Friday doorbuster sales and not have to deal with someone whining about how early it is.
10. The wishbone is mine ... all mine!!!

Holy Bananas!
I got the role with the first project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you can't tell, I am freakin psyched! I think I'll be internationally traveling. How.freakin.cool. I start a week from Monday on the project. I'll keep you (all like 1 of you who read it) updated with what the plan is, but not to worry, I'll be in DC most of the time, so happy hours, dinners, and parties, yes please!
In other news, I went to lunch again with my "friend" the office man. He was nice enough to come meet me instead of me driving down to our old office area. I think we have a definite friend thing going. He's still very nice, but I move at a mile-a-minute and talk even faster and he's not as uhm...energetic as I am. Totally fine, I'm just saying. He gave me this super awkward hug, well actually, he turned to me and said, "Give me a hug." Oh ok, we'd never hugged before. AWK.
I really am so excited, words can't even do it justice.

No Updates
No updates on the job front. I had another call and an in-person meeting with a fabulous group from a second project. I am stressed. And now the first project can't let me know until tomorrow. Will I have to choose? I'm no good at this. I just want to be happy in my job. I think that just means I want to not hate the work and I want to enjoy my coworkers.
Really, does it matter? In exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes I will be having cheap but delicious beers at Rock Bottom. Yay!

Only One Of You Can Have Me
So I've been so crazy stressed out. I think tomorrow will at least be like the end of it. I think. Most of it is job driven. I have 3 roles right now that I'm up for. The first would be until May-ish and I'd be on a tiny team and I'd get to travel internationally (but it'd be based in DC). The second would be until Feb and would be also in DC. The third would be until Jan and is in Denver. Le sigh. I'll report back on this tomorrow.
In unrelated news, grandpa Wade got fired yesterday afternoon. For those of you who don't know, he was the head coach of my beloved Dallas Cowboys. I saw this coming, especially after the blowout at Green Bay. But it's still sad.
At least it's almost 5 and I can have a drink.

I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller
I wish I was a baller.
Today has been really stressful. I found out that I'm rolling off of my project on Friday (THANK FUCKING GOD). But now that means I have to find a new project, and hopefully quick. I'm really looking forward to moving on because I know what other great clients and projects my company has. Another plus side...this girl is working from home today. I just finished a nice work out (first in a few days...whoops) and am just thinking that it looks so beautiful outside. My balcony has the nicest view of Arlington and Falls Church and I just get to see all of the trees with their leaves changing colors. Makes me really wish I had a fireplace. The yule log channel doesn't really give that warming feeling so well.
Yesterday, I couldn't drag my ass out of bed/off my couch to support the Marine Corps Marathon runners, but I did manage to pull it together and get to the bar for the Cowboys game. What a depressing season it's been. With Tony out, we're just going downhill. Granted, I will still be at the bar every week getting harassed for liking America's Team. I mean, I'm from Dallas, just get over it already.
Also, one of my favorite movies ever is on. Meatballs, the one with Bill Murray from the 70s. I have NO clue why I like this movie, but I really just do.
I wish it was the weekend, I'm ready to get drunk, and since I haven't done many happy hours lately, I can't justify sitting around my apartment having a cocktail with Firefly vodka and passing out. Here's hoping.

I Don't Really Like Talking About My Flair
I really hate it actually.
So instead, I'll talk about my Halloween costume. I'm going to be Batman this year. Mainly it's referring to a TO/Ochocinco reference, but the superhero idea was just too easy.
Polyvore is difficult to use....not to mention my costume was much cheaper than they tried to make it.
Tshirt: $9 Amazon
Shorts: Old school soffee shorts
Shoes: Black tennis from Target for $9
Shoe Laces: Target $1.50
Belt: Mine is actually just a large yellow ribbon, so it's like a fake belt
Mask: $1.39 from Party Depot
Knee Socks: Old black soccer socks
This is a costume done cheap and comfortable. We will all still look cute, but not frozen. I like it. And our adventure include, but are not limited to these fine events:
Night of the Living Zoo
La Tasca Halloween Party
and other bars we decide to go to.
I'm really looking forward to it.

I am SO Bored
I am bored. I have nothing to work on. This is how I feel, but it's not about anyone in particular, just the situation now:
Ok, so maybe I'm being a little dramatic. I'm really excited for the weekend and I've got some really great things coming up. Hopefully some of the stress will die down soon.

Oh, Hi Fall Weather
Yesterday in DC, it was 80 degrees. Yes 80. I had a t-shirt and work skirt on and I was totally comfortable. This morning, as I'm running late and trying to get out the door, wet hair and all, I get in my car, crack my windows and drive outside and proceed to get blown in the face by a gust of ridiculously chilly wind. WHERE DID YOU COME FROM???? I know, I know, it's October, but I was so thrown off. Thank goodness I had a cardi in the car. OMFG, I can finally wear my boots....sweet.
Today, I am majorly stressed out. Basically my entire life for the next year lies in the hands of this man who is choosing his staff for another project within my company. If I'm picked, I'll be traveling around the country, 6 weeks at a time, with weekends either in the location of my work, or back here in DC. I'd give up my apartment, and hopefully be happier with work. Right now I'm on a project that is miserable. Some days I come in and don't speak to anyone. Like I said...miserable. This other project sounds great and would put off my move to Chicago. I also need to tell my apartment complex by the end of the month if I'm going to resign or not. And lets say I don't get this position, then the Chicago move is on, hopefully for next September, and I'd need to see if my apartment would even let me sign for 9 months. So really, everything lies in this man's hands. I should hear something this week???
At least I have things to keep me busy. Tomorrow, I'll be meeting up with my volleyball teammates who I've played with the last 4 years, some longer than that, at Founding Farmers for happy hour. I've heard that this place is great, but I've never been. Friday I'll be attending a fabulous dinner party with some really great people. Sunday I'll finally be back with MB at the pub for Football Sunday! Yes, that is in caps. It's been forever (read: 4 weeks) since we've watched the games together. Next week is filled with sorority family dinners, and preparing to run the Army 10-Miler next Sunday. Holy crap I'm freaking out about that. More on it later though.
Also, have you ever eaten these:
I tried them and love them! So weird and tangy yet delicious.
kthanksbye.

So weird and tangy yet delicious.
kthanksbye.

Case of the Mondays
Yep, today is a bad day. I woke up and can barely lift my arms or move my legs. I tried to get gas, and the thing read my card fine, but when I attempted to actually pump the gas, nothing came out. That happened twice. I finally gave up and went to the Hess down the street. I don't get what was going on. I'm also trying to deal with a mini-financial crisis. It's not good. I'm so stressed out that I woke up at 3 and tossed and turned for like an hour. I really just wish I was rich, or won the lottery, or inherited a million dollars.
And tonight, I'm playing softball again on my friend Mike's team. Let's hope for no injuries.
