So another year, another (my second!) Army 10-Miler. I'm so proud to say that Kathleen and I took 10 minutes off our last 10-Miler time! I'm not a super fast runner, and I do take walking breaks, but I'm just really happy with that time. It makes me feel a bit more confident especially since I really did no training more than running like, 3 miles at a time, and only for the last few weeks. I think this will make the 1/2 marathon in January a bit more easy.
And in 3 weeks, I just have to run 6 miles for a 10K, my first ever 10K. I think that's backwards though, aren't you supposed to start with the small distances? Oops.
Yay running!

Yesterday Was A Bad Day
Not really bad, I just felt small, like my life wasn't moving forward, even though I know it's far from the truth. I'm having great adventures, working really hard but enjoying it, and overall things are going well. Blah.
Today was better. I came home and killed myself doing spin and then zumba. I've got an early happy hour, but I'm really excited because tomorrow night I'm going to Mr Days for Happy Hour. It's some charity thing thrown for my friend at work's friend. Did you follow that one? Anyways, there's a date auction and my work friend K tried to get me to be in it. Uhm, I'm all for meeting people, but selling myself, not happening. EVER. 1. I have stage fright like whoa. 2. I am confident, but I don't honestly think I'm pretty or gorgeous or deserving of a paid date. I can't even get a normal date. Don't get my wrong, I'm not horrible (check the Buenos Dias link for proof), but jeez, that'd be too much for me. Anyways, if you're around, come support a good cause, and see me get drunk. Something like that.
Also, somewhat unrelated to everything else, Monday night I took Body Pump at Golds. Basically it's a class where you lift weights non-stop for an hour at a heart-pumping pace...hahah something like that. BITCH KILLED ME. My triceps hate her. And it's like, 2 days later.
Well ya'll, I hope you had a nice week and are looking forward to a great weekend.

I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller
I wish I was a baller.
Today has been really stressful. I found out that I'm rolling off of my project on Friday (THANK FUCKING GOD). But now that means I have to find a new project, and hopefully quick. I'm really looking forward to moving on because I know what other great clients and projects my company has. Another plus side...this girl is working from home today. I just finished a nice work out (first in a few days...whoops) and am just thinking that it looks so beautiful outside. My balcony has the nicest view of Arlington and Falls Church and I just get to see all of the trees with their leaves changing colors. Makes me really wish I had a fireplace. The yule log channel doesn't really give that warming feeling so well.
Yesterday, I couldn't drag my ass out of bed/off my couch to support the Marine Corps Marathon runners, but I did manage to pull it together and get to the bar for the Cowboys game. What a depressing season it's been. With Tony out, we're just going downhill. Granted, I will still be at the bar every week getting harassed for liking America's Team. I mean, I'm from Dallas, just get over it already.
Also, one of my favorite movies ever is on. Meatballs, the one with Bill Murray from the 70s. I have NO clue why I like this movie, but I really just do.
I wish it was the weekend, I'm ready to get drunk, and since I haven't done many happy hours lately, I can't justify sitting around my apartment having a cocktail with Firefly vodka and passing out. Here's hoping.

Watch Out, I Can Kick Ass Now
Last night, Al, katmcd and I decided to give LA Boxing a try. LA Boxing has been around for a while and they always offer a free first class. I've wanted to try it for a long time, but was excited to finally do it. All I needed to pay for was the hand wraps. So we met up around 545 to purchase our wraps and they gave us a pair of gloves to use. I guess if you go there as a member you're expected to purchase your own gloves.
The class itself was pretty good. I thought I was going to die during the first 10 minutes of warm up. It was really fast-paced and we didn't use our gloves right away. Cardio, toning, and basically killing people was first. By half-way through the class I was feeling a lot better and started having a lot of fun. My arms were like spaghetti afterwards but I was pretty happy and the class just overall kicked my ass.
Then we went to talk to the guy about prices before we left. HOLY SH*T. The enrollment fee is $199, and montly payments are $120 per month if you contract for 1 year, and $94 per month if you contract for 2 years. If you wanted to be awesome, and pay for a year in full, that would cost you a whopping $1488! As much fun as I had in that class, and as great of a workout it was, I jut think those prices are incredibly high and really unreasonable.
So I tried it, I liked it, and I won't be doing it again.

Sunday Sunday Sunday
duh duh duh. duh duh duh. (insert NFL theme jingle here)
I'm just sitting watching my Cowboys take on the Bengals in the Hall of Fame game. It's silly and it's just like another pregame. I really experience this amazing feeling every Sunday during football season. It just reminds me that every Sunday for the next 4 months, I'll be sitting with 2 of my best friends for anywhere from 5 to 10 hours at the bar in our football jerseys just loving life and yelling at tvs. This is us here:

Warm fuzzy feeling back. Wait, nope it's gone. Oh that's just because I walked across my apartment and since I took Sports Conditioning again today I seriously can't lift my arms. I'm not happy to go to work tomorrow.

CityShopGirl
CityShopGirl sent out an email today with a coupon from Taberna Del Alabardero in downtown for a free pitcher of Sangria. CSG FTW! Now I've never been to TDA, but I think for that free pitcher I'd be willing to try it.
Also, as this weekend was all about pool time and good times, MB and I went to Big Buns. HOLY BANANAS it was so delicious. I totally recommend it to anyone in the Ballston/VA Sq area if you want a ridiculous awesome burger or chicken sandwich. I could only eat half my burger and a bit of fries, and taking them home so I could eat them as leftovers was simply amazing.
This week, well this month at work is going to be seriously slow. I'm not looking forward to it.
In another random event this weekend, my friend went home with some guy she met at The Guards on Saturday night. I guess she wasn't feeling it, so she left. She walked about 3 minutes before remember she forgot her ring there. She walked back, and I guess the guy was asleep, but the door was open. As a parting gift, she pocketed some dvd of a movie she likes. HAHAHAH, not sure what she was thinking but it's pretty awesome.
And lets not forget the new obsession of classes at Gold's. Last night I ventured over to the gym to take Sports Conditioning. Sometimes I can suprise myself with how mean I am to my body. This class seriously was awesome but so incredibly hard. Today my shoulders and upper back/neck is sore, my calves are on fire, and walking the stairs is damn near impossible. Obviously, it did great things for me. I totally recommend taking it, preferrably with Andy. Because hi, he's cute.

Gold's Gym
Gold's Gym

Like I wrote about in my last post, I joined Gold's Gym recently and have been trying out many different classes. Spin and zumba have been my main go-tos, but tonight I'm headed to sports conditioning class. MB and I had a fabulous weekend of laying out at the pool and last night in Georgetown was pretty ridiculous but really fun but I need to kick my ass tonight over eating Taco Bell at 3am. Gold's is going to help me get through everything.
On a sidenote, thank god July is over. I'm tired of staring at events that Kevin and I went to together. We're broken up. I want to just forget him. Please.

Zumba
Zumba

After the Kevin situation, K2 took me to Golds to Spin, but we decided to stay and attend our first Zumba class. In my head, it was some African dance party. Ok, I never heard of what it actually was. Nope, it's a Latin dance class and holy crap it's awesome. My feet never move as quickly as the girl wants them to move, but I love the class and it always kicks my ass. There's also an absurd amount of inappropriate girating, especially the early morning classes. I did it Wednesday and K2 and I headed there this morning.
